National Force to support activities on Indigenous land in Pará state
For 30 days, from July 17 to August 15, the National Public Security Force will support the National Indigenous Foundation (Funai) in Parakanã, in the Brazilian state of Pará. The ordinance of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security authorizing the measure was published in this Thursday's edition (Jul. 14) of the country´s Official Gazette.
According to the document, the military force will act to preserve public order, and the security of people and private properties, on a planned basis. “The contingent to be made available will comply with the planning defined by the board of the National Force.
The ordinance points out in one of its articles that the use of the National Force will occur in articulation with the public security agencies of Pará, under the coordination of the Federal Police.
The Parakanã Indigenous land is home to more than 20 villages and is located in the municipalities of Novo Repartimento and Itupiranga. Its creation was approved on October 30, 1991.
