Rio university invites thinkers to discuss future in online event

The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) brings together thinkers and personalities from a wide range of fields this Monday (29) in the third edition of the Festival do Conhecimento (“Knowledge Festival”), which will feature a series of online activities until September 2. The event is centered around the theme “from ancestral to digital” and seeks novel solutions to both present and future problems.

Among the special guests at the festival are environmentalist Ailton Krenak, priest Júlio Lancellotti, indigenous influencer Samela Sateré Mawé, youtuber Felipe Neto, sociologist Boaventura Souza Santos, journalist Flávia Oliveira, virologist Amilcar Tanuri, the head of the research foundation Fiocruz, Nísia Trindade Lima, and educator Eliane Potiguara, peace ambassador for the United Nations, considered the first indigenous woman to publish a book in Brazil.

Monkeypox, fake news, and the metaverse are some of the topics to be discussed at the event, whose online program includes debates, workshops, book launches, and film screenings.
