Trump posts about meeting with Lula on social media
The White House posted a photo on social media of the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Sunday (Oct. 26).

In the post, Trump says it was an honor to meet with Lula and declares they are prepared to make good deals.
“It’s a great honor to be with the President of Brazil… I think we should be able to make some pretty good deals for both countries… We always have had a good relationship – I think it will continue,” the text reads.
During the meeting, President Lula asked for the revocation of the US tariff on Brazilian exports.
After the encounter, Trump authorized US diplomats to begin negotiations with the Brazilian government.
In July of this year, Trump announced a 50-percent tariff on all Brazilian products exported to the US. Subsequently, Brazilian government ministers and members of Brazil’s Supreme Court were also targeted by the US administration with the revocation of travel visas and other sanctions, such as the Magnitsky Act—a mechanism in US law used to unilaterally punish alleged human rights violators abroad.
