Brazil, UK strengthen partnership to combat human trafficking
The governments of Brazil and the United Kingdom on Wednesday (Nov. 12) announced a partnership to combat human trafficking. The memorandum of understanding between the two countries provides for intelligence sharing, coordination of joint operations, and measures for prevention and victim assistance.

The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the agreement is part of a broader strategy to reinforce the national policy against such crimes.
International partnerships
“In recent years, Brazil has prioritized cooperation with partner countries to strengthen investigations, train public officials, and expand the victim protection network,” said National Secretary of Justice Jean Uema.
Human trafficking is one of the main forms of transnational organized crime. For this reason, the Brazilian government argues that combating it requires international cooperation to make enforcement efforts more effective.
Last year, the country signed similar partnerships with the authorities of Colombia and Bolivia to combat this type of crime.
