The Integrated Network of Genetic Profile Banks reached the mark of 127 thousand registered profiles. Of these, 100,000 are records of genetic material from criminally convicted individuals.

The number included, in addition to the genetic profile of the convicts, information about the locations of traces, references to missing persons, unidentified remains, convicted and criminally identified.

The total number of registered genetic materials increased 14 times compared to that recorded at the beginning of 2019, when the network had 7 thousand profiles of convicts, according to information from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.

According to the ministry, in the last two years, R$ 150 million were invested in the network.

The genetic profiles bank has been involved, so far, in more than 2,800 criminal investigations in Brazil.

The Integrated Network of Genetic Profile Banks was created in 2013 to help investigate crimes and identify missing persons through stored genetic profiles.
