Retired teacher Rosangela Medeiros da Costa e Silva, mother of Monique Medeiros and grandmother of the boy Henry Borel, admitted that the child may have been attacked. Her testimony, this Wednesday (15), lasted approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes, before judge Elizabeth Machado Louro, from the 2nd Criminal Court of the Capital, who also heard other witnesses in Monique's defense. The magistrate scheduled the interrogations of Jairo Souza dos Santos Júnior, Dr. Jairinho, and Monique for February 9th.

At the end of the testimony, Rosangela - who had all along denied the possibility that her grandson Henry had been assaulted, as he had never appeared at her house with marks of violence or talking about the matter - was directly questioned by the judge, who asked if she believed that the grandson could have been attacked, as internal injuries do not show up with the naked eye, to which he replied: “I believe so”.

During her interrogation, Rosângela defined Monique as a good daughter and dedicated mother to little Henry. He argued that the child had never been abused and that he was well cared for, both by his mother and grandparents, in the house where he stayed for long periods.

Imprisoned since April, the defendants were denounced by the Public Ministry for the practice of aggravated homicide (for a shameful reason, with an appeal that made the victim's defense difficult and inflicted intense suffering, in addition to having been committed against children under 14), torture, coercion of witness, procedural fraud and misrepresentation.

Henry Borel Medeiros, son of Monique and stepson of Jairinho, died on March 8th. According to information from the complaint, the 4-year-old boy was allegedly a victim of torture carried out in the couple's apartment, in Barra da Tijuca. The boy was taken to the Barra D'Or Hospital, but he has already arrived at the dead place. At the time, Monique said she believed the boy had fallen out of bed. Jairinho claimed that he was sleeping, under the effect of sedatives.
