Brazil’s Supreme Court Justice Dias Toffoli was elected Thursday (Sep 15) to the post of substitute judge at the country’s Superior Electoral Court, the body responsible for organizing the elections.

The vote was held symbolically during a plenary session of the Supreme Court. The chairs dedicated to Supreme Court justices at the nation’s top electoral court are held in rotation. Toffoli presided over the electoral court from 2014 to 2016.

The Superior Electoral Court comprises seven judges—three from the Supreme Court, two from the Superior Court of Justice, and two lawyers appointed by the president.

The full members of the Supreme Court at the electoral court are Justices Alexandre de Moraes, Ricardo Lewandowski, and Cármen Lúcia. Justices Nunes Marques and André Mendonça round out the list of substitutes.
