Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) has already begun the largest operation in its history in order to act as the host broadcaster for the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), to be held in the Amazon city of Belém, Pará state, in November this year. The event will be broadcast in Brazil and overseas by a robust structure that includes more than 300 professionals and state-of-the-art technology.

“By taking on the role of host broadcaster for COP30, EBC reaffirms its expertise in broadcasting and covering events on a global scale, as we have done with the G20 and BRICS. Our structure will allow the discussions held in Belém to reach people both in Brazil and overseas. It will be a milestone in the history of public and government broadcasting,” EBC Director-General Bráulio Ribeiro declared.

The challenge for COP30 involves generating, managing, and distributing over 42 simultaneous signals, integrating two main events, two press conference rooms, and a special events room. In total, 26 HDTV cameras and around 120 PTZ cameras will be used. The main events will be broadcast in UHD 4K, the most advanced image quality available.

Signals from over 36 parallel event rooms and official meetings will also be received and processed, all centralized in a master control room specially designed by EBC’s technical teams for the conference. It should function as the heart of the broadcast, ensuring recording, distribution, quality control, stability, and reliability for all content generated.

Another highlight is the internal IPTV system, which will feature more than 330 screening points on televisions scattered throughout the large Blue Zone (the main area for official negotiations) and 15 channels streaming simultaneously. This system will allow participants to follow debates and events in real time using a sophisticated TV channel management system, which will also be available through the COP30 network’s web environment.

Also in the Blue Zone, TV and radio studios will boast areas of 25 m² and 16 m² respectively for accredited press coverage. In the Green Zone, an area with less restrictive access, an exclusive structure of some 100 m² will be installed, featuring a TV studio and a radio studio, a dressing room, a storage room, a meeting room, and a break room. This space will be shared by EBC media outlets.
