Judge Sérgio Moro, of the 13th Federal Court in Curitiba, ordered today (Nov. 3) an auction of the goods seized from those arrested as part of Operation Car Wash. The sale was chosen by the judge as a means to restore the money embezzled from Petrobras by the accused.
Among the objects to be auctioned are a speedboat belonging to former Petrobras Supply Director Roberto Costa, estimated to be worth $790 thousand, and a $996.7 thousand hotel owned by foreign currency dealer Alberto Youssef.
The ruling also includes luxury cars, like two Mercedez and three BMWs, registered under the name of Nelma Kodama and Rafael Henrique Srour, both foreign currency dealers. The cars are slated to be auctioned on Thursday (5).
In March, a Porsche Cayman, which used to be property of Nelma Kodama, was bought for $54 thousand. The vehicle was the first object belonging to a someone arrested as part of Operation Car Wash to be sold. The minimum bid had been set $52.4 thousand.
