President Jair Bolsonaro on Tuesday (Nov. 12) announced his departure from the Social Liberal Party—the PSL, which he joined before running for president—and the creation of a new party, the Alliance for Brazil.

"Today I announced my departure from the PSL and the beginning of the creation of a new party, Alliance for Brazil. I thank all who collaborated with me in the PSL and stood as partners in the 2018 elections," the president tweeted.
