Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has showed clinical improvement after the introduction of a nasogastric tube, according to the medical bulletin published by Vila Nova Star hospital, where he has been hospitalized since early Monday (Dec. 3), in São Paulo. According to the bulletin, the president has neither fever nor abdominal pain. However, there is still no final assessment regarding the need for surgery.

“The Vila Nova Star Hospital informs that Brazilian President Jair Messias Bolsonaro has showed clinical improvement after the introduction of a nasogastric tube, evolving without fever or abdominal pain. The patient took a short walk down the hospital corridor and remains in clinical treatment”, says the hospital.

Bolsonaro was taken to the hospital because of abdominal pain, caused by an intestinal obstruction, according to the first statement released by the hospital.

The president arrived in São Paulo at around 1:30 am, after leaving Marechal Luz Fort, in São Francisco do Sul, on the coast of Santa Catarina state, where he had spent New Year’s Eve.
