Lula to attend meeting on democracy in Chile
President Lula on Monday (Jul. 21) will attend a high-level meeting on the defense of democracy in Chile, organized by Chilean President Gabriel Boric.

The presidents of Colombia, Spain, and Uruguay will also participate in the event. The agenda will cover three topics: the defense of democracy and multilateralism; the fight against inequality; and the fight against misinformation and the use of digital technologies.
The meeting will be reserved for heads of state and will be followed by a session with representatives from civil society, academia, and research centers.
According to the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting will follow up on the 2024 event “In Defense of Democracy—Fighting Extremism,” which was convened by President Lula and Spanish President Pedro Sánchez.
Another edition of the initiative will take place during the United Nations General Assembly in New York this September.
