Brazil and Colombia confirm attendance at democracy event
Amid a global scenario aggravated by the war in the Middle East, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Colombian President Gustavo Petro confirmed their participation in the fourth meeting of the event In Defense of Democracy, which will be organized by the Spanish government in Barcelona on April 18.

The initiative was unveiled last year and involves the governments of Brazil, Spain, Colombia, Chile, and Uruguay.
Lula and Petro spoke by phone on Wednesday morning (Mar. 11). According to the Planalto presidential palace, the two discussed regional integration in the context of the preparations for the summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), to be held in Bogotá on March 21.
In his conversation with Lula, Petro pointed out that CELAC will also hold a meeting with African countries on the same date.
