Brazil reports 11,130 cases of COVID-19, 486 deaths
The mortality rate stands at 4.2%

Brazil’s Health Ministry released the latest figures on the new coronavirus in the country this Sunday (Apr. 5). The infected total 11,130, up 852 cases from the amount unveiled Saturday (4). The death toll stands at 486, 54 of which in the last 24 hours. The mortality rate of the virus in Brazil is reported at 4.2 percent.
The state of São Paulo concentrates most cases (4,620) and the highest number of deaths (275). Second comes Rio de Janeiro, with 1,394 cases and 64 deaths.
All five regions across the country, however, showed a spike in the number of cases. Only the Central-West did not see an increase in the total of deaths (12).
Of deaths whose investigation was concluded, 228 are men, and 160 women. People aged 60 and older make up the majority, with 412 (86%). Deaths among those aged 40 through 59 add up to 54. Also, 20 patients aged 20 through 39 died.
Among the risk groups with most fatal cases are patients with heart disease and diabetes. The Health Ministry also reports deaths among patients with lung, liver, blood, and kidney disease, neurological afflictions, immunodepression, obesity, and asthma.
