COVID-19: 132,000 deaths, 4.3 mi cases reported in Brazil

In 24 hours, Brazil has reported 381 new deaths from COVID-19, reaching 132,006 since the beginning of the pandemic. The figures are in the daily report released by the Health Ministry on Monday (Sep. 14). There are also 2,498 deaths under investigation.

The total case tally now stands at 4,345,610. From Sunday to Monday, state health secretariats notified 15,115 new positive diagnoses for the novel coronavirus.

The number of registered cases tends to be lower on Sundays and Mondays due to the limitations facing the health secretariats feeding the national data base. On Tuesdays, the number has been larger to the accumulation of data from over the weekend. Also reported are 600,420 people being monitored and 3,613,184 have recovered from the disease.

Figures by state

São Paulo (32,642), Rio de Janeiro (17,003), Ceará (8,698), Pernambuco (7,888), and Pará (6,368) are the states with the highest number of deaths from the disease. The lowest death counts are seen in Roraima (610), Acre (640), Amapá (680), Tocantins (814), and Mato Grosso do Sul (1,085).
