COVID-19: Brazil case tally now over 5 million

Thus far, 4,391,424 people have recovered from the disease

Brazil has surpassed the mark of 5 million confirmed cases of COVID-19. In the last 24 hours, 31,553 new diagnoses were registered, adding up to 5,000,694. Until yesterday, the official case count was 4,969,141.

The data were made available by the Ministry of Health in its daily update, published Wednesday evening (Oct. 7).

The country’s death toll currently stands at 148,228. Last night, state secretariats added 734 fatal cases of COVID-19. Until yesterday, this figure was reported at 147,494. There are also 2,482 deaths under investigation.

A total of 461,042 cases are included as monitored. As it stands today, 4,391,424 people have recovered from the disease.
