Brazil’s COVID-19 death toll now at 383,502

In 24h, 2,027 deaths and 45,178 new cases were reported

The total number of deaths caused by the novel coronavirus has reached 383,502. From Wednesday to Thursday, 2,027 new fatalities were reported. There are also 3,643 deaths under investigation by health teams, as in some cases the cause of death is ascertained after a patient dies.

The country’s total case load since the beginning of the pandemic rose to 14,167,973, after 45,178 new positive diagnoses were computed in 24 hours.

The data can be found in the official update released by the Health Ministry on Thursday evening (Apr. 22). The report combines figures on cases and deaths from state health secretariats across the country.

Recovered patients now total 12,673,785. Those with an active case, being monitored by health agents, amount to 1,110,686.

States

The ranking of Brazilian states with the highest death tolls for COVID-19 is headed by São Paulo (90,810), followed by Rio de Janeiro (42,362), Minas Gerais (31,386), Rio Grande do Sul (23,752), and Paraná (20,959).

Those with the lowest number of fatalities are Acre (1,458), Roraima (1,466), Amapá (1,497), Tocantins (2,328), and Alagoas (4,054).
