Brazil reports 17.2 mi cases of COVID-19, 482 thousand deaths

Recovered people total over 15.7 million, 91.1% of the infected

Brazil has confirmed 17.2 million cases of COVID-19 and 482 thousand deaths since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic Recovered patients add up to 15.6 million, the Health Ministry stated Thursday (Jun. 10). In 24 hours, 88 thousand new cases and 2,504 deaths were registered.

São Paulo state has the highest counts since the pandemic started—3.4 million cases and 116 thousand fatalities. Next come Minas Gerais (1.6 million cases, 42 thousand deaths); Paraná (1.1 million cases, 27.7 thousand deaths), and Rio Grande do Sul (1.1 million cases, 29.3 thousand deaths).

Vaccination

Thus far, 109.294 million vaccine doses against COVID-19 have been distributed to states and municipalities throughout Brazil. Of these, 71 million doses have been administered—49.5 million as the first dose, and 21.46 million of the second dose.
