COVID-19: Brazil reports 38,902 cases in last 24h

The total case tally now stands at 17,966,831

Brazil confirmed 38,902 cases and 761 deaths from COVID-19 in 24 hours, according to a report released Monday evening (Jun. 21) by the country’s Ministry of Health. Altogether, 17,966,831 cases and 502,586 fatalities have been registered since the beginning of the pandemic.

According to the document, 90.7 percent of the people infected with the novel coronavirus (16,288,392) have recovered. There are also 1,175,853 cases being monitored.

States

São Paulo is the Brazilian state that ranks first in the number of both cases (3,587,646) and deaths (122,258). Minas Gerais is second in the case tally, with 1,739,929, followed by Paraná (1,217,064).

The states with the lowest figures are Acre (84,918), Roraima (109,702), and Amapá (115,771).

Rio de Janeiro comes second on the list of states with the highest death tolls, with 54.267 deaths. Next comes Minas Gerais, with 44,583.

The Brazilian states with the lowest amount of fatalities are Roraima (1,704), Acre (1,732), and Amapá (1,803).

Vaccination

The ministry reported that 109,475,286 doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 have been distributed to the states. Up to this Monday, 88,353,063 doses had been administered—64,034,871 as the first dose, 24,318,192 as the second. In 24 hours, 1,392,493 doses of the vaccine were administered.
