COVID-19: Brazil reports 544k deaths, 19.4 million cases

Over 27k cases and 1,424 deaths were confirmed in 24h

Brazil reported 544,180 lives lost as a result of COVID-19. In 24 hours, health authorities recorded 1,424 fatalities.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 19,419,413 people have contracted the disease. From Monday to Tuesday alone, 27,592 new positive diagnoses for COVID-19 were confirmed. Of the total infected, 18,124,621 have recovered from the disease.

The figures can be found in the daily update released by the Health Ministry, which combines data raised by health state secretariats.

Atop the list of Brazilian states with the highest death tolls for COVID-19 are São Paulo (135,490), Rio de Janeiro (57,705), Minas Gerais (49,025), Paraná (33,908), and Rio Grande do Sul (32,763).

The states with the lowest death counts are (1,780), Roraima (1,815), Amapá (1,884), Tocantins (3,419), and Alagoas (5,671).

Vaccination

Also according to the official figures, 164.1 million vaccine doses have been distributed, with 125.3 million having been administered—90.5 million as the first dose, 34.7 million as the second or only dose.
