Brazilian students and teachers are taking part in rallies across the country today (Aug 13) in defense of the autonomy of public universities, and against the reduction in funding for education and the overhaul in the country’s pension system.
In a statement made today (May 28) in Brasília, Brazil’s Economy Minister Paulo Guedes said he is confident in the approval of the overhaul in the country’s pension system, a topic currently under debate in the Parliament.
Acts of vandalism, congested traffic, and halted trains and metro lines marked the National Day for the Fight against the Labor and Pension Reforms, against the overhauls under deliberation by special commissions at the Chamber of Deputies.
