In terms of formal contracts, the private sector saw a surge in the number of employees with work permits, reaching 37.4 million, the highest since January 2015.
The result brings the year-to-date balance to 1,784,695 new jobs across all states in four of the five economic groups that make up the official survey.
The decline—from 8% in the second quarter to 7.7% in the third quarter this year—was mainly driven by the decline in São Paulo state, where the index fell from 7.8% to 7.1% in the period.
The hypermarket and supermarket segment is likely to hire the most temporary workers, with 45,47 thousand vacancies, followed by clothing and footwear, with 25,17 thousand.
The percentage is at its lowest since February 2015 (7.5%), and decreased both from the previous quarter—ending in May this year (8.3%)—and from the quarter ending in August 2022 (8.9%).
