The US special envoy for climate came to Brazil to move forward with the Brazil-US Climate Change Working Group, officially relaunched by Lula and Biden in February.
The U.S. Special Envoy John Kerry will remain in Brazil until Tuesday (28) and will meet with representatives of the National Congress and civil society leaders.
Guedes mentioned that Brazil plans to “unilaterally” reduce import tariffs. “We’re also talking to our friends in Mercosur, because we want a flexible and modern Mercosur,” he declared.
Brazilian chancellor Ernesto Araújo wrote that “dialogue and cooperation on environment and climate will be yet another aggregating element in Brazil–US ties we are continuing to build.”
