The need for a second vote in the mayoral race in cities with 200 thousand inhabitants or more is stipulated by the Constitution and follows the same model adopted in the presidential and gubernatorial elections.
With ballots from 78.66% of the voting machines counted, candidate Dilma Rousseff (PT) is leading the presidential race with 40.30% of valid votes. Next comes Aécio Neves (PSDB), with 35.15%. Marina Silva (PSB) is reported to have 20.91%.
