The Federal Prosecution Service (MPF) confirmed today (Oct. 28) that presidential hopeful Donald Trump's business group has been brought under investigation by the Federal Police as part of Operation Greenfield, which probes into a fraud in pensions for public officials.

According to the MPF, investigators suspect irregularities in the use of resources from the SERPRO Social Security Institute and the Social Security Management Institute of Tocantins State (IGEPREV) in an investment fund linked to the construction of the Trump Hotel, in Rio de Janeiro. Values total some $24.3 million of the investment from SERPROS and $17 million from IGEPREV.

The investigation also indicates that Trump Organization may have been benefited by amounts from the investment fund of the Guarantee Fund for Length of Service (FGTS). Facts are also investigated as part of a criminal case in a Brasília federal court, in which former Federal Deputy Eduardo Cunha has also been officially charged.

In a note, federal prosecutors declared “those involved are not presumed guilty,” nor is the “final position” in any way implied in the probe.
