Conmebol draws groups for 2023 edition of Copa Libertadores

There are seven Brazilian teams in the competition

Conmebol drew on Monday night (Mar. 27) the groups for the 2023 edition of the Copa Libertadores in Luque (Paraguay). Brazil will be represented in the competition by seven teams: Athletico-PR, Atlético-MG, Corinthians, Flamengo, Fluminense, Internacional, and Palmeiras.

Current Libertadores champion Flamengo is in Group A, which also includes Racing (Argentina), Aucas (Ecuador), and Ñublense (Chile). Internacional, on the other hand, is in Group B, which is headed by Nacional (Uruguay). Metropolitanos (Venezuela) and Independiente Medellin (Colombia) are also in the group.

Group C is headed by Palmeiras and also includes Barcelona (Ecuador), Bolivar (Bolivia), and Cerro Porteno (Paraguay). Fluminense is in Group D, together with River Plate (Argentina), The Strongest (Bolivia), and Sporting Cristal (Peru).

Corinthians is Brazil's representative in Group E. It will face Independiente del Valle (Ecuador), Argentinos Juniors (Argentina), and Liverpool (Uruguay). Group G will have two teams from Brazil: Athletico-PR and Atlético-MG. They will be joined by Libertad (Paraguay) and Alianza Lima (Peru).

Only two groups do not have representatives from Brazil. Group F is formed by Boca Juniors (Argentina), Colo-Colo (Chile), Monagas (Venezuela), and Deportivo Pereira (Colombia). Group H includes Olimpia (Paraguay), Atletico Nacional (Colombia), Melgar (Peru), and Patronato (Argentina).

Final in Maracanã

The main purpose of the Brazilian teams in the competition is to advance to the final match, which will be played on November 11, at the Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
