Brazilian museums participate in #MuseumWeek

Global initiative promotes online cultural exchange and encourages

On Thursday (26), museums will use #inspirationMW to invite the audience to find elements that represent the specialty of their preferred museums -Marcelo Camargo/Agência Brasil

Beginning this Monday (Mar. 23) until next Sunday (29), museums in several Brazilian cities – including Rio de Janeiro, Petrópolis (RJ), São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, and Brodowski (SP) – are participating in the global campaign, #MuseumWeek. The initiative is designed to promote online cultural exchange and encourage active visitor participation.

The Louvre (Paris); the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York); and the Museum of Image and Sound (Rio de Janeiro) are some of the cultural institutions that will use hashtags throughout the week to promote their activities and trivia on Twitter.

On the first day, the museums will be sharing behind-the-scene info under #secretsMW. On Tuesday (24), visitors will share their favorite memories on these museums under #souvenirsMW. The theme Wednesday (25) will be the architecture and landscapes in the surroundings, providing new insight on the museums under the hashtag, #architectureMW.

On Thursday (26), museums will use #inspirationMW to invite the audience to find elements that represent the specialty of their preferred museums creating an audiovisual tribute. On Friday (27), the theme will be family activities offered by the museum, including guided tours and areas for children, under the hashtag #familyMW.

On Saturday (28), visitors can share they museum favorites using the #favMW hashtag. The #MuseumWeek initiative will close on Sunday (29) with the #poseMW hashtag, with visitors and staff taking pictures using the museums as a backdrop.
