The number of families relocated or evicted from their lands in the Amazon Rainforest region due to mining, land grabbing, wood extraction, monoculture and the construction of dams and hydroelectric plants increased 76% in 2013. The figures were published in a report entitled Field Conflicts 2013, released on Monday (Apr. 28) by the Pastoral Land Commission (Portuguese: Comissão Pastoral da Terra), an association for land issues connected with the Church.

The document further shows that 1.7 thousand evictions were registered in the region in 2012, and 3.1 thousand last year.
