Brazil's industrial activity declined in August
Brazil's industrial activity has shrunk again in August, the National Confederation of Industry announced Wednesday (Oct. 1st). Hours worked both in production and as part of employee's working hours decreased 0.8% in August compared to July, according to seasonally adjusted data. Efficiencies have also declined, with 80.5% of the total capacity utilized in the period.
Wages, in turn, showed moderate vigor, increasing 0.3%. Average real income for the period also increased by 0.4%.
However, according to CNI analysts, the figures for August seem to verify the “downward trend in industrial activity, which had an unusual increase in July after four consecutive months of decline.” According to these experts, the growth in comparison with June reflected the smaller number of working days as a result of the 2014 World Soccer Cup (June 12-July 13).
