Brazil's industrial output in November 2014 declined 0.7% as against that of October. Compared to November 2013, the decrease was 5.8%, the ninth consecutive decrease on a  year-over-year basis, and the sharpest since June 2014 (-6.9%).

The data is part of the Monthly Industrial Survey of Physical Production (PIM-PF) released Thursday (Jan. 8), by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

Declines were reported for 11 of the 24 industries and three of the four major categories compared to October – hard goods (-0.9%), capital goods (-0.2%), and non-durables (-1.3%). Intermediate goods remained stable.

These results amounted to a total decline of 3.2% in 2014 (January through November), the same as that for the past 12-month period.
