Sales of building materials rose 4.1% in August compared with July. However, according to the Brazilian Association for the Industry of Construction Materials (Abramat), this high was not enough to mount to last year's performance.
Compared with August 2014, the trade fell 10.9%, there was also a drop of 10.1% for the period January-August. Over the past 12 months, sales declined 8.7%.
In a note, Abramat's president announced that the strong dollar led to a 15% reduction in the amount of imported products, increasing the chances in the market for a larger flow of domestic production.
