Petrobras announced Tuesday (Oct. 13) that has concluded negotiations with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Leasing (ICBC Financial Leasing Co.) to raise $2 billion.

In a note to Securities and Exchange Commission of Brazil (CVM), the firm reported that the financial transaction was signed through a 10-year leasing contract for a pair of offshore facilities, P-52 and P-57.

"This transaction is a result of a cooperation agreement for establishing a long-term relationship between Petrobras and ICBC signed during the visit of Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang to Brazil in May 2015," explained the firm.

According to Petrobras, the resources will be available for disbursement after being internally approved by both institutions. "This transaction is part of Petrobras' financial strategy to diversify its funding sources and it anticipates actions for attracting the amount of sources planned for 2016," read the note.
