Rousseff limits government's spending until 2016 expenses are outlined
President Dilma Rousseff limited the amount of costs authorized for the ministries and federal agencies until a new norm is issued to establish the contingency spending for this year.
Through a decree published Monday (Jan. 18), agencies, funds, and entities of the executive power may only commit to expenses up to the specified limit.
The limit will be enforced until the president and the economic staff establish the financial planning and the monthly spend plan, in which all the spending cuts shall be included.
By this measure, the amounts authorized for transactions and commitments costs to each agency are restricted to the provisions of the decree, until the 2016 federal general budget, sanctioned last week, comes into force.
Last year, the government monthly limited one-twelfth of the budget to be used by each ministry in basic upkeep costs before the 2015 Annual Budget Law passed.
