The decree that regulates Law No. 14,237, of November 19, 2021 , which instituted the Gas Aid, was signed this Thursday (2) by the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, and published in the Official Gazette of the Union , this Friday. fair (3).

The beneficiary families will be entitled, every two months, to an amount equivalent to 50% of the average national reference price for a 13-kilogram (kg) cylinder in the last six months. This reference price will be established by the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).

The Gas Aid is intended to alleviate the effect of the price of cooking gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), on the budget of low-income families. The aid will be granted to families registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs whose monthly family income per capita is equal to or less than half the minimum wage and to families whose members receive the Continuous Cash Benefit (BPC).

According to the regulated law, assistance will also be granted, preferably, to families with women victims of domestic violence who are under monitoring of urgent protective measures. The decree that regulates the law clarifies that the preferential concession will be carried out based on access to information contained in a database maintained by the National Council of Justice.

"The importance of this prioritization cannot be denied, as this public often experiences the worsening of their financial condition due to the removal of the aggressor from the home and the consequent subtraction of their contribution to the family's income. Thus, the forecast seeks to facilitate access from women in situations of violence to the transfer of financial amounts that will contribute to family expenses", says the note published by the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic.

The decree also makes it possible to implement the benefit as of December 2021, as it intends to reduce the effect of the price of cooking gas on the budget of low-income families, as the country is going through a difficult time. as a result of the covid-19 pandemic.
