Brazil foreign accounts at minus $4.1 bi in July
In 12 months, the deficit reached $36.585 billion

Brazil’s foreign accounts had a negative balance of $4.136 billion in July, the country’s Central Bank reported today (Sep 26). In the same month in 2021, the deficit had been $1.175 billion in current transactions (purchases and sales of goods and services plus income transfers with other countries).
In the 12-month period ended in July, the deficit in current transactions totaled $36.585 billion, 2.08 percent of the GDP—compared to a negative balance of $33.623 billion (1.92 percent of the GDP) in June 2022 and a deficit of $20.880 billion (1.37 percent of the GDP) in the equivalent time span ended in July 2021.
Year to date, the deficit stood at $18.411 billion, against a negative balance of $9.752 billion from January to July 2021.
