A survey carried out by São Paulo Stock Exchange B3 shows that the number of individuals, who invest in variable income, grew 35 percent in the third quarter of 2022, compared to the same period last year, from 3.3 million in 2021 to 4.6 million this year. In comparison with the second quarter, there was an increase of 200,000 investors.

Variable income is an asset in which the financial return cannot be calculated in the moment of the investment. It can vary positively or negatively, according to market expectations.

The study shows that there was an increase in trading and in the value of all types of investment in the stock market. The number of investors in fixed income products went from 9.6 million to 12.6 million. Direct Treasury, in turn, is an investment option for about 2.1 million individuals, up 25 percent in the third quarter compared to the same period in 2021.

Individuals represent 16 percent of all volume traded in the spot market on the São Paulo Stock Exchange.
