Brazil beats Puerto Rico in Women's Volleyball World Championship

The Brazilian volleyball team beat Puerto Rico on Thursday (Oct. 6), at the Women's Volleyball World Championship in Rotterdam (Netherlands). The team coached by José Roberto Guimarães won by 3 sets to 0 (25/11, 25/13, and 25/15), in an inspired day of central Carol.  Brazil`s next opponent (Group E) are the Dutch hosts, playing today (Oct. 7) at 3:15 p.m. (Brasília time). They are two-time Olympic champions and are seeking the unprecedented title of the World Cup.

Brazil disputes the second phase of the World Cup in Group E with seven other nations (Italy, China, Belgium, Japan, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, and Argentina). In Group F there are eight other teams: Serbia, the United States, Turkey, Thailand, Dominican Republic, Poland, Canada, and Germany.

At this stage, the nations will not repeat the same matches of the first phase, that is, Brazil will no longer have to face Japan, China, and Argentina. The top four teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals.

The Brazilian team disputes the World Cup with lifters Macris and Roberta, opposite players Kisy and Lorenne, forwards Gabi, Rosamaria, Pri Daroit, and Tainara, central players Carol, Carol Gattaz, Julia Kudiess and Lorena, and libero players Nyeme and Natinha.
