Brazil starts Paralympic Judo World Cup with two medals
Brazil had a good start at the World Paralympic Judo Championships, which is being held in Baku (Azerbaijan), as it won silver, with Thiego Marques, and bronze, with Rosi Andrade, on Tuesday (Nov. 8).
According to Marques, the medal in the up to 60 kg category for J2 athletes (with low vision) has a special value: "This silver medal tastes like gold. It reflects several days of hard training, being far from friends, and giving up a lot of things. And it shows that we are on the right path. I`ve arrived here as the leader of the ranking and, thanks to the score I`ve achieved, I will still leave as the leader. It's a very important leap for Paris [Paralympic Games]."
Rosi Andrade also expressed her joy for the conquest in the up to 48 kg category for J1 athletes (totally blind): "I'm very, very happy. It shows that everything was worthwhile. We came from far away, we left our families, and everything, for a dream. And, when we achieve our goals, it is very rewarding. My first World Cup and to come out with this result is more than incredible.”
