Brazil’s Sundhage unveils women’s team for friendlies against Canada

Brazil’s coach Pia Sundhage on Tuesday (Nov. 1) disclosed line-up of the women’s national team for two friendly matches against Canada in São Paulo state on November 11 and 15.
Among the new names on the list are right-back Bruninha, former Santos player, currently on OL Reign (US), who is given a new chance on the team. Sundhage also called striker Debinha (North Carolina Courage, US) and goalkeeper Lorena (Grêmio, Brazil), both recovered from injury.
The matches are preparatory for the Women’s World Cup, slated to start on July 23 next year in Australia and New Zealand.
The clash on November 11 will be at Vila Belmiro, in Santos, at 3:15 pm Brasília time. Four days later, at the same time, Brazil will again duel against Canada at the Neo Química Arena, Corinthians’s stadium, in São Paulo.
The Brazilian team have won ten consecutive matches, scoring 33 goals and conceding only one. Brazil will play the first phase of the 2023 Women’s World Cup in group F, along with France, Jamaica, and the team qualifying in the play-off (China Taipei, Panama, Paraguay, or Papua New Guinea).
