The Federal Police reported that up to now no evidence has emerged which proves that current Petrobrás Supply Director José Carlos Cosenza has been involved in a bribery scheme at the oil giant. The statement was made as part of the clarifications given by the Federal Police at the request of Federal Judge Sérgio Moro, in charge of Operation Car Wash.

In the document sent to the judge on Wednesday (Nov 19), Police Commissioner Márcio Adriano Anselmo states that, by a “material error”, Cosenza's name had been included in connection with possible beneficiaries in an illicit scheme at the Brazilian state-controlled company. The commissioner explained that the question answered by those under investigation as to whether they knew José Carlos Cosenza was asked “merely because he took Paulo Roberto Costa's place in the department where the payments were identified, and also because Cosenza was its executive manager.”
