The list with the names of Brazilian nationals with a bank account at HSBC in Switzerland, suspected of tax evasion and fraud in the case known as SwissLeaks, should be submitted by the French government to Brazilian authorities by the end of April. Justice Minister José Eduardo Cardozo says the data will be immediately relayed to members of the Senate's investigative committee on the case.

“It's important that the [committee] gets all the information in order to clarify the facts.  The ministry may also place police and public agents at the service of the committee to help,” Cardozo declared on Thursday (Apr 16). He went on to note that the calls for cooperation on the part of the French government were made in March.

“The French ambassador has informed us there will be no problems to convey the data. He just highlighted that, due to criminal law, this cooperation depends on the permission of a French investigating judge, which might delay the proceedings,” he stated.

Both the minister and the senators in charge of the case have expressed their confidence that France should send the data still this month, i.e., within the 180-day period the congressmen have been given to end the probe. “France has been cooperating with other countries, like the US and Belgium. Why wouldn't they cooperate with our country? All signs are positive and indicate that, still in April, the Brazilian state will be in possession of all those data, so that we can take all necessary measures,” said the team's rapporteur, Senator Ricardo Ferraço.
