The Federal Revenue Service launched a massive operation against smuggling and other border crimes on Friday (Apr. 24). Dubbed “Operation Shield”, it is part of Operation Shielded Borders and involves the Federal Police, Federal Highway Police and civil and military police.
Efforts are underway in several states, especially in border areas, and are supported by dedicated Federal Revenue Service helicopters that help guide ground agents, as well as teams with sniffer dogs.
Operation Shielded Borders is an ongoing effort of the Federal Revenue Service against smuggling and piracy as part of the Strategic Border Control Plan of the Federal Government.
