Another former Petrobras director arrested in corruption probe
The federal police launched the 15th stage of the Operation Car Wash corruption probe on Thursday morning (July 2). This stage, dubbed Operation Monaco, is targeted on Petrobras's International division.
Operation Monaco has led to the arrest in Rio de Janeiro of former international director Jorge Zelada, implicated by other suspects arrested at earlier stages of Operation Car Wash. He will be transferred to the Federal Police building in Curitiba, Paraná, later today.
Police are serving another four search and seizure warrants in Rio de Janeiro, as well as a pre-charge remand.
According to information from the Federal Police, the suspects are charged with corruption, bid rigging, embezzlement of public funds, illegal offshore banking, and money laundering.
Zelada was accused by Paulo Roberto Costa, former Petrobras Downstream director, and Pedro Barusco, former Petrobras Services manager, as part of plea bargain agreements. Both of them are jailed.
