Attorney-General appeals to Supreme Court to put off ruling in govt audit
Attorney-General Luís Inácio Adams appealed to the Supreme Court (STF) Tuesday (Oct. 6) to put off the ruling on the 2014 accounts of Dilma Rousseff's administration, slated for Wednesday (7) at the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU).
Adams filed for an injunction with the STF, arguing that the TCU cannot proceed to the ruling without separately considering the Attorney-General's motion to recuse the court official leading the audit, Augusto Nardes, for allegedly disclosing his decision to reject the government's accounting practices in 2014 ahead of the vote.
As he learned of the motion for recusal, Augusto Nardes condemned the Attorney-General's move and said he “won't back down” in the face of what he described as a government attempt to intimidate him.
Adams replied saying that the Internal Rules of Court prohibit a court member from expressing their opinion about ongoing cases.
