Transparency website beats record of hits in 2015
The Comptroller-General Office (CGU) reported that the Transparency website—initiative to enhance confidence in the public administration, by allowing citizens to track the money used by the government—registered more than 16 million hits in 2015.
It is the largest number of visits registered since the website was created in November 2004. Each month, the average number of hits has been around 1.4 million—also a record when compared with the previous 12 years, according to the CGU. The cities where citizens have mostly hit the website have been Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Recife.
The Transparency website holds consultation on the executive power, like fund transfers, budget and financial implementation, revenue and agreements, information on more than 1 million public officials (civil and military), functional real estate, thematic consultations (on the Bolsa Família program daily payments, Payment Card), the National Register on Disreputable and Suspended Companies, among other information.
The CGU announced that the website is being restructured, as part of a cooperation agreement with UNESCO. The restructured website is expected to be launched this year and will be more interactive and accessible, in order to make browsing faster to users, and provide a more efficient channel to release data on the federal government's budget and financial implementation.
