Brazil's Foreign Ministry issued a statement today saying that “the Brazilian government regretfully heard of the severe earthquake that hit central Italy early on Wednesday (Aug. 24), resulting in dozens of fatal victims and significant damage, especially in Amatrice.
“The Embassy and the Consulate General of Brazil in Rome are monitoring the situation. So far, no Brazilians have been reported among the victims.
“The Brazilian government conveys its solidarity to the victims' families, the people and government of Italy,” the note concluded.
