In Brazil, transgender physicians may use their social name
The Federal Medical Board (CFM) recommended regional councils to allow transgender physicians to use their social name on internal documents, like work badge ID card, time sheets, and paychecks at their workplaces. The entity's recommendation, however, does not include the change in the employee's portfolio, which can be presented as civil identification document and needs to be authorized by court to be modified.
The recommendation aims to resolve a difficulty faced by transgender physicians to be identified in their workplace. Attorneys are already in accordance with a similar recommendation since July.
A decree, published in April this year, also asserts this right to civil servants who work for the federal government.
