Former Espírito Santo governor shot dead in Vitória
A suspect is being investigated; the motivation still unknown

Gerson Camata, 77, former state governor of Espírito Santo state and a member of the Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB) party, was gunned down on Wednesday afternoon (26) on Praia do Canto, in state capital Vitória. Authorities reported he was shot several times and succumbed to his wounds. A suspect has been arrested and is speaking to the police at a homicide division.
Camata had a degree in economics and became prominent after a TV show in the 1960s. He subsequently pursued a career in politics, and was elected governor, senator, and federal deputy.
