Rio hosts International Humor Film Festival
The first edition of the International Humor Film Festival starts tomorrow (Dec. 7) at the Cinemateca of the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro (MAM-Rio). Until December 16, 64 productions will be aired, among which feature and short films from 18 countries.
At the opening session Wednesday (7) a tribute will be paid to Buster Keaton, one of the greatest names in film humor, with the screening of short films Day Dreams (1922) and The Balloonatic (1923).
The airing will be accompanied by a live piano, as it used to be in movie theaters in the past.
Among the highlights of the competitive screening are Ukrainian The Inglorious Serfs (2020), directed by Roman Perfilyev; Argentinean El Cuento del Tío (2021), directed by Ignacio Guggiari; and Russian Shameless (2021), by Nikita Vladimirov. Among the short films, there are seven Brazilian productions.
