5G internet is already available in more than 80 cities across Brazil, including all 27 state capitals and cities with populations exceeding 500,000, Minister of Communications Juscelino Filho stated.

During an interview on the radio program A Voz do Brasil, the minister noted that an additional 282 cities now have access to the 3.5 GHz band, which is necessary to implement 5G services. However, the release of this band does not guarantee the immediate installation of 5G networks in these areas. This step is just one part of the overall installation schedule.

The Ministry of Communications estimates that, by the end of the semester, approximately 1.6 thousand cities will have been cleared to receive the 5G network infrastructure.

Juscelino Filho announced that starting in July of this year, cities with 5G service will have one antenna for every 50,000 inhabitants. Currently, there is one antenna for every 100,000 inhabitants.

"This infrastructure, which needs a lot of investment, will improve the quality of the 5G service in these cities. Additionally, it will also be gradually installed in smaller cities according to a specific schedule," he said.
